Sermon on the Mount
People of Influence
Questions from Sunday 22 January 2012
The aim of these questions is that we would consider the Sunday teaching in more detail, taking time to explore God’s Word further and seeing how it applies to our lives and the lives of those around us.
Salt of the earth – Light of the world
- We all like to think that our lives make a difference. What would you like written on your gravestone when you die? Maybe you have read an obituary or seen an epitaph that you wish would be written for you.
- Being “salt” is acting as a preservative of Godly values and preventing decay. In what ways could you/do you influence those around you simply by the way you live your life?
- Sometimes it is easier to hide our light under a bowl rather than let it shine. What do you find most difficult about being a “light” to those around you?
- As you consider Jesus’ words to you in terms of being salt and light wherever you go, how does this change the way you look at yourself and those around you?
- Look at all the people you come into contact with regularly each day. Is there anyone in particular you would love to see coming to faith in Christ? Spend some time this week praying for them and asking God how you can be a light to them.
