Pastor's Letter April 2014
Dear Friends
As we approach Easter this year, I encourage you to reflect on God’s incredible love and power that are available for us. It is the same love that took Jesus to the cross and the same power that raised him from the dead, and both are without limit.
When we consider the Easter story it is not hard to see God’s love for us shining through, as he paid the highest price in order that you and I could be redeemed. It is a love that is always greater than we can understand, a love which we will never reach the limits of.
At the same time, even though God’s love took Jesus to the cross, there needed to be something more than that to redeem us. If the cross had been the end of the story then we could marvel at the sacrifice, but ultimately we would remain separated from God and enslaved to sin. The reason we rejoice at Easter is because we know that the cross was not the end. Easter is not only a powerful reminder of God’s love but also a demonstration of the limitless power of God, overcoming sin and death and raising Christ from the grave.
In Ephesians Paul talks about that same power that raised Christ from the dead being available to those who believe, and he prays that believers “may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that [we] may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen” Eph 3:20,21
