Pastor's Letter March 2015
Dear Friends
For those who have been around regularly on a Sunday morning in recent months, you will have noticed that I (and others) take the time to introduce ourselves and also to explain what people might expect to happen during the meeting. In some ways it seems strange to do that when the majority of people who gather to worship have done so many times and are well aware of who I am and what to expect during the meeting. We are very aware, however, that we are regularly seeing new people coming into the meetings, some who are already Christians and some who are seeking, and our aim is to make visitors as comfortable and secure as possible during their time with us.
I always think it takes a great deal of courage to walk into a church environment that you are not familiar with, particularly if you are not a believer. Even as a Christian and a pastor I find myself getting nervous on the odd occasion that I visit another church. I realise that I am walking into a group of people I don’t know who will have customs and practices that I am not familiar with, who may use different language and sing different songs.
My desire is that we, the Liberty Church family, make it as easy as possible for any visitor to join us in our Sunday meetings and to feel comfortable and relaxed, in order that they may encounter God for themselves. I love the sense of “family” within Liberty Church. I love the way we look out for each other and I love hearing from visitors how welcome they have been made to feel. I believe that as we continue to grow in our influence and impact upon those around us we will see more and more people coming into our Sunday gatherings and I would like to encourage us all to continually look out for those who are new and to continue to make them feel part of the Liberty Church Family.
Much love and blessing
Jon
