Jon's Pastor's Letter, June 2017 

 
Dear Family
 
“A family of believers, committed to God and to each other, where people of all ages are finding hope, coming to faith and growing in their relationship with God, as we follow Christ together.”
 
Many of you will recognise this statement having seen it in a newsletter or heard us mention it over the years.  It has been around for a number of years now and although it could probably be refined and made a little more memorable (I realise it doesn’t trip off the tongue!!), for me, every time I read it I am stirred again with the realisation of who we are as a Church and what God is calling us to be.  I love seeing all the generations coming together. I love the sense of family, seeing people looking after each other, caring in very practical ways, encouraging and supporting each other, praying for and serving each other.  I love seeing the diversity of experience with people from so many different backgrounds coming together to worship our God together.  I love seeing people at all stages of their walk with God, from those who have known God all their lives to those who have yet to encounter God for themselves.  This is the way Church should be; sometimes messy, sometimes with laughter and sometimes with tears.
 
I have always said that Liberty Church is unique because it is made up of unique individuals with unique gifting and passions, and I love seeing how the Church is developing as new people join the family and bring their own giftings into the mix.  The important thing for me is that together we encounter God, together we follow our Lord Jesus Christ and together we reach out into our community with the message of the gospel.
