Pastor's Letter October 2013
Dear Friends
If you have been with us on Sunday mornings these last few weeks you will know that we have begun a series based on Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, entitled “Living Life on Purpose”. Paul reveal’s God’s great purpose for all creation and we see how as believers in Christ, and as the church together, we are part of this great purpose. How incredible that God would choose us before the creation of the world, and that we are described as his “workmanship” or “masterpiece”!
Also, over this last month, many of us have had the privilege of going through George’s training series entitled “Who Do You Think You Are?”, where George has taken us on a journey to help us understand how God has made and gifted each one of us, and to look at our differences and our similarities. It has been a fascinating insight to understand our personality types, why we act and react the way we do, and to gain an understanding of why others are the way they are.
All of this has again made me consider the uniqueness of each of us and the incredible value of believers coming together to form the body of Christ, the church. How much we need each other and how much we need to see our own value in Christ. I believe that as we start to grasp who we are in Christ, his unique workmanship, and as we ask what our purpose is in the light of God’s great purpose then we will know life in all its fullness.
When we realise that we are not meant to be someone else but that our purpose is fulfilled when we start to be who God has made us to be then we will see the fulfilment of Paul’s words in Eph 4:16
“From [Christ] the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
I am excited about us discovering together the purpose for which God has made us, and to seeing that purpose worked out in our lives and in the church.
Love and blessing
Jon
